Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are there any prerequisites?
A: The only prerequisite will be an interest in the program and a completed application. East Bay Arts will not select students based on past academic performance. All students are eligible and only need the desire to learn.

Q: Can I change my mind and go to one of the bigger high schools after two years?
A: Yes. Your commitment to East Bay Arts is for one year. We believe that you will love it here and won't want to give up all that the small learning community has to offer, but we want you to have the high school experience you choose for yourself.

Q: Can I go to dances or games at the traditional high schools if I am a student at East Bay Arts?
A: Yes. East Bay Arts students will have to follow the guidelines created by the traditional high schools for all participants attending dances and sporting events.

Q: How will East Bay Arts prepare my child for the future?
A: Bay Area Arts will prepare students for the future by:
-Emphasizing cooperative learning
-Offering and emphasizing A -G University requirements

A: Any students that are interested in joining East Bay Arts will fill out an application. If there are more applicants than space available, the district will have a lottery.

A: No. It is much more than just a class. It is a brand new school and will provide you with a whole new experience.

Q: Is East Bay Arts the same as Royal Sunset?
A: No. It is a new school that operates under the same staffing, funding and academic standards as the other two traditional high schools but shares a physical site with the continuation high school.

Q: What about AP classes?
A: Students will have opportunities for advanced placement classes during their junior and senior years. Students will also have access to concurrent college classes and online advanced learning instruction.

Q: Will I be able to participate in sports?
A: Yes! Students will be able to participate in sports at one of the traditional high schools, depending on your home address and district boundaries.

Q: Will I be able to take elective coursework or Advanced Placement courses?
