To Prospective Students

Welcome to East Bay Arts!

Welcome to East Bay Arts High School,

To our new students and families, welcome to a very different approach to high school.  Your student will encounter some unfamiliar approaches, but our goal remains to provide every individual with quality learning experiences every day.  Our techniques are all based in rigorous academic research and have proven effective.  We expect every student to prepare for admission to a four-year, state (a-g) university.  The skills and habits of mind necessary to get into college will be essential for success in life, whether they go to college or not.

We’ve been fortunate to have the assistance of an amazing group of parents and families whose support for students and the school has helped us find funding, run support programs, even help out in our new office.  We truly appreciate the amazing effort of every parent, and we hope to ask for your support as well one day.  Remember in every way you help you are investing in your child’s future.

Our goal is the success of every student!  Please take a look around the website and see for yourself what our students have been up to.

Abigail Kotzin

Principal East Bay Arts High School

As a college-preparatory high school, the East Bay Arts curriculum meets University of California A-G requirements presented via a thematic curriculum, which concentrate on visual and performance arts.  We expect all students to be college-ready and eligible for university admission upon graduation.

All students will achieve essential competency of all standards, while excelling in some standards and developing specialization (e.g. mastery of an artistic genre).  We believe in the principal of “fixed-standards, flexible time,” permitting students the time they need to achieve essential competency, as well as personalize their course of study.

A normal academic progression starts with two years of Foundations, followed by two years of Culminations.  East Bay Arts students must pass the California High School Exit Exam (CaHSEE) in English Language Arts and Mathematics, and meet all curriculum standards within our Foundations program, before matriculating to our Culminations program.  Students may spend as much time as needed to complete either the Foundations or the Culminations stages of our program.
